Mission
The Swiss Global Artistic Foundation was formed in 1999 by its Director, Heather de Haes. It holds charitable status in the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States, and has Friends’ organisations in London, Montreux and New York.
The Foundation’s objectives are to identify emerging musicians of exceptional talent and to offer them international exposure, career connections, performance opportunities, professional guidance and artistic mentoring. It has assisted over seventy artists from eighteen countries.
The Foundation is unusual in its ability to provide resonant cultural experiences for its friends and supporters while benefiting its young artists. It has produced over a hundred artistic events in unique and interesting venues worldwide, often in close collaboration with embassies, cultural institutions and corporations.
The Foundation owns several fine stringed instruments which it lends to members of its roster. The Evangelists are a rare matched string quartet set, made by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume in Paris in 1863 from the wood of a single tree. There is also a fine Grancino cello from Milan, 1700.
Recently the Foundation has broadened its areas of support to include highly talented young orchestral players, mentored in partnership with l’Orchestra International de Genève. It also works with emerging jazz, music theater and world music artists in New York City and holds master classes and performance workshops for high school students in the greater New York area.
